Hashtag ToolTips

See how many followers a hashtag has, right where you read and write posts.

What it does

  • Hover over a hashtag in your LinkedIn feed to see its follower count.
  • Check your draft. In the post composer, Get Followers looks up every hashtag in your draft and shows a total before you publish.
  • Look anything up. The toolbar popup has a search box for any hashtag.
  • Fast on repeat. Counts are kept in your browser for 7 days, so looking the same hashtag up again is instant.

Available in English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Nederlands, Polski and 简体中文.

How to use it

  1. Install it from the Chrome Web Store, then refresh any LinkedIn tab that was already open.
  2. Scroll your feed and hold the pointer over a hashtag. A small tooltip shows its follower count.
  3. Click Start a post, type a few hashtags, then click Get Followers next to the Post button. Press Escape to close the panel.
  4. Or click the extension’s icon in the toolbar and type a hashtag into the search box.

Private by design

  • No account, no analytics, no ads. Nothing is sent to me.
  • Counts are requested from LinkedIn with your own signed-in session, and kept only in your browser.
  • The hashtags in your draft are read on your device only, and only when you click Get Followers.
  • It asks for two permissions: storage (to keep the 7-day cache) and activeTab (so the toolbar popup can check that the tab you are on is a LinkedIn page). It runs only on linkedin.com.

Good to know

  • A count is not a promise of reach. Hashtags can no longer be followed on LinkedIn, so a count shows how popular a hashtag has been, nothing more.
  • You need to be signed in to LinkedIn. The counts come through your own session, so they won’t load when you are signed out.
  • Refresh once after installing or updating. Chrome only attaches an extension to pages that load after it is installed. The popup tells you when a refresh is needed.
  • It depends on LinkedIn. The numbers come from a LinkedIn endpoint that is not officially documented and can change without notice, so features may stop working until I update the extension.

Something not working, or an idea? Tell me with the feedback form. If it helps you, a review on the Chrome Web Store is the best thanks.
